London Olympics 2012
The Background 
Department of Post Karnataka along with State Youth Services and Sports Department and Karnataka Philatelic Society planned to issue a Special Cover to commemorate the inauguration of London Olympics 2012 and promote philately. Mr. Jagannath Mani who specialises in Olympic Stamp collection took the responsibility to get the task accomplished.
Challenge 
The biggest challenge was the images of sports personalities as The Postal Department does not issue stamps on dignitaries that are alive and hence lesser stamps on the subject. Mr. Mani then shared from his collection collage of some Olympic stamps.
Solution 
The design team at AmkaysWeb conceptualised the theme around Olympics and India’s Participation in the games. World map was suggested as the backdrop and pictograms of the sports India participates were added along with Mr. Mani’s stamp collections collage. The cancellation stamp was also designed in line to the guidelines of The Postal Department.
Results 
The Special Cover was launched on 27th 2012 during OlymphilexIndia 2012 in Bangalore and was highly appreciated for the theme and graphics. The committee was so impressed by the world map theme that they decided to have the same on the certificates to be given to successful participants.
